Kickstarter pre-launch activities).

I. Who We Are
Yaniir is a creator-owned design brand based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We produce
artisan gaming accessories, including modular dice jewelry and custom-crafted resin
dice. Our online store is hosted through Shopify and used to manage sales, fulfillment,
and customer communications.
Yaniir acts as the Data Controller for personal information collected through our website.
This means we determine the purposes and methods of processing your data. In certain
limited cases (such as when relying on third-party shipping or payment providers) those
entities may process your information on our behalf or in accordance with their own
terms.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and processing personal data lawfully,
fairly, and transparently in accordance with global privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA,
and other applicable frameworks.

II. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected through our websites
(yaniir.com and yaniir.myshopify.com), email campaigns, Kickstarter launch
communications, support interactions, and fulfillment-related tools and platforms.
It does not apply to third-party platforms, such as Kickstarter, Google, Facebook, or
Shopify itself, even if accessed through our Site. Those entities maintain their own
privacy policies, which we encourage you to review independently.

use this information for purposes beyond those stated unless you give us permission.

B. Information We Collect Automatically
When you visit our website, interact with our email campaigns, or engage with certain
marketing tools, we automatically collect technical and usage data to help us improve
our services and understand audience interests.

Examples of information we collect:
IP address, browser type and version, device identifiers, time zone settings, pages

This information is collected through cookies, pixels, and analytics tools (see our Cookie
Policy for details). It is generally processed in aggregate and not used to identify
individuals, except when linked to your direct communications or purchases.

This information helps us measure interest in our products, understand how people find
Yaniir, and refine our marketing. We do not purchase data lists or sell your personal
information to outside marketers. We do not share your personal information with third
parties for their independent marketing purposes.

D. Sensitive Personal Information
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (such as racial or ethnic

We do not use your personal information to train AI models, develop algorithms, or for
automated profiling beyond what is necessary for website analytics and fraud
prevention.

A. Legal Basis
If you are located in the European Union, United Kingdom, or other jurisdiction that
requires it, we process your information only where we have a legal basis, including:

  • Your consent (such as for marketing emails or optional cookies)
  • To fulfill a contract (such as processing your order or providing support)
  • Compliance with legal obligations
  • Our legitimate interests (such as to improve our services or prevent fraud),
unless those interests are overridden by your rights

We do not sell your personal information or use it for automated profiling or decision-
making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
For more information on how and with whom we share your data, see “How We Share
Your Information.”

V. How We Share Your Information
A. Who We Share Your Data With
We may share your personal information with trusted third parties for the following
purposes:

  • Service Providers: We work with Shopify, payment processors (such as Paypal
and Stripe), shipping and fulfillment partners, analytics services (such as Google
Analytics), and marketing/email vendors who help us operate, secure, and
improve our website and services. These providers are contractually required to
protect your data and process it only as instructed by us. A list of core service
providers and the functions they perform is available upon request.
  • Professional Advisors: We may share information with legal, accounting, or
other professional advisors as needed for business operations and compliance.
  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose your information to comply with laws, legal
requests, court orders, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
  • Business Changes: In the unlikely event of a business transfer, merger,
reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of
that transaction, subject to applicable privacy laws.
  • With Your Consent: We will ask for your explicit permission before sharing your
information with third parties for purposes not covered by this Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for their
    independent marketing purposes.

B. International Transfers

Your personal information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside
your home jurisdiction, including the United States and Canada, where our service
providers are located. Where required by law, we implement appropriate safeguards
(such as Standard Contractual Clauses (“SCCs”), adequacy decisions, or similar
mechanisms) to protect your data during cross-border transfers.

For more information on Shopify’s data transfer practices, see:
https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy

VI. How We Store, Retain & Protect Your Data
A. Data Storage
We store and process your personal information using technical, physical, and
administrative safeguards designed to protect your privacy and meet global data
protection standards. Most information is stored securely through Shopify, our payment
processors, or email marketing partners, all of whom are required to use robust security
practices.

B. Data Retention
We keep your personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described
in this policy, such as fulfilling orders, complying with legal obligations, or resolving
disputes.

  • Order and account data: Retained for as long as necessary to fulfill your order,
provide support, and for no longer than seven (7) years unless otherwise
required by law or regulatory obligation.
  • Customer support messages: Retained only as needed to resolve your inquiry
    or comply with legal requirements.
  • Email subscription and marketing data: Retained until you unsubscribe or ask
    us to delete your information.
  • Aggregated or anonymized data: May be retained indefinitely for research or
analytics, as long as it cannot be linked back to you.

We may retain certain information where required by law or where necessary to
establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. You may request deletion of your personal
information at any time by contacting us at yaniirdice@gmail.com, subject to applicable
legal obligations.

C. Data Security

We take your privacy seriously and use industry-standard security measures to help
protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration.
These safeguards include encryption, access controls, secure storage, regular review of
our security practices, and vendor security assessments.
Our service providers (such as Shopify, payment processors, and marketing partners)
are required to maintain equivalent security standards and to process your data only as
instructed by us. While no system is completely secure, we are committed to continually
improving our safeguards and to notifying you of any significant data breaches if
required by law.

VII. Your Rights
Depending on where you live and applicable data protection laws, you may have the
following rights with respect to your personal information:

  • Right to Information: You have the right to know what data we collect, how we
use it, and who we share it with.
  • Right to Access: You can ask us for a copy of your personal information we
    hold.
  • Right to Correction: You may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete
    information.
  • Right to Deletion: You can ask us to delete your personal information when it’s
no longer needed, or if you withdraw your consent (where applicable).
  • Right to Restrict Processing: You may request that we limit how we use your
    information in certain circumstances.
  • Right to Object: You may object to our processing of your personal information
when we rely on legitimate interests (subject to certain conditions).
  • Right to Data Portability: You may request your data in a structured, commonly
used, machine-readable format and (if technically feasible) have it transferred to
    another provider.
  • Right Not to Be Subject to Automated Decision-Making: You have the right
not to be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing that have
legal or similarly significant effects on you.
  • Authorized Agents (California Residents): If you’re a California resident, you
can appoint an authorized agent to exercise these rights for you.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at yaniirdice@gmail.com. We may
need to verify your identity before processing your request, and we will respond within
the timeframe required by law (usually within 30 days).

We may deny requests where permitted by law, such as if fulfilling your request would
violate the rights of others or conflict with our legal obligations. If you are dissatisfied
with our response, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection
authority in your region.

A. Automatic decision-making
If you are a resident of the EEA, you have the right to object to processing based solely
on automated decision-making (which includes profiling), when that decision-making
has a legal effect on you or otherwise significantly affects you.
We do not engage in fully automated decision-making that has a legal or otherwise
significant effect using customer data.
Our processor Shopify uses limited automated decision-making to prevent fraud that
does not have a legal or otherwise significant effect on you.

Services that include elements of automated decision-making include:

  • Temporary blacklist of IP addresses associated with repeated failed transactions.
This blacklist persists for a small number of hours.
  • Temporary blacklist of credit cards associated with blacklisted IP addresses. This
blacklist persists for a small number of days.

VIII. Your Controls
You can manage how we collect and use your personal information in several ways:

  • Email & Marketing Preferences: You can unsubscribe from marketing or
promotional emails at any time using the link at the bottom of every email. We do
not send marketing emails without prior consent where required by law.
Transactional communications are not considered marketing.
  • Cookie & Tracking Preferences: Manage your cookie preferences using your
browser settings or the cookie consent tools provided on our website.
  • Third-Party Platforms: If you interact with us via social media (e.g., Instagram,
Facebook) or other platforms (e.g., Kickstarter, Etsy), your data is also subject to
those platforms’ privacy controls and policies.
  • Data Access & Deletion: You may request access to, correction of, or deletion
of your personal data by contacting us directly at hello@yaniir.com.
For certain requests, we may require verification of your identity before taking action.
